Wouldn’t it be great if Lebanon’s problems could be solved by saying, simply: “There’s an app for that?” Now they can. (Click to enlarge)

Arayeb would make a damn fortune!

Posted by a.m. | February 22, 2010, 2:50 amLOL was a very good morning start. My favorites were missed call and Arayeb aps. followed by War Index. You got it Spot On guys!

Posted by Ekios | February 22, 2010, 5:54 amHeh… You know many of these Apps are cross-border compatible. Except for maybe 3, all the rest would work perfectly fine here in Jordan. π
Nice piece.
Posted by Khaled Hakim | February 22, 2010, 6:10 am1-The i-zaim should also come with satellite based geolocation features, in addition to the app V suggested , making it able to turn automatically silent (and blank) in given conditions.
2- QNApp TO SLEEP?
a)Looks like the insomniac market is largely covered by a large array of drugs, widely available in the thousands of pharmacies with or without prescription…that paper of rien du tout is , of course, not compulsory in Lebanon βunlike everywhere else in the world- given the proverbial popular knowledge of Lebanese in the field of antidepressants, anxiolytics, tranquilizers and sleeping pills of all sorts.
b)QNapp would apply for exactly the opposite application: need something to keep you up till to 2pm? Go to QN. Need an excuse to procrastinate βwith whatever you need to have done since past month- definitely GO to QN.com!
Posted by mj | February 22, 2010, 6:12 amhahaha quitd hilarious and spot on! ah the lebanese life style… ya laziz ya reye2!
Posted by ritamou | February 22, 2010, 8:13 amI like Anisa’s suggestion #3. I can see street hawkers in Beirut selling these posters to High School students and University dorms.

Posted by joshua Landis | February 22, 2010, 1:26 pmVery funny!
QN&MZ, seriously “Arayeb” can make you millionaires (if you are not already:)
And I would price it at $4.99, not $0.99
And I would go for the poster too. But please make sure your currently 2D icons are photoshoped into proper iPhone standard icons… add top Glare, crop the top glare (its bottom part with a curve), apply an underglow, then add a sharp drop shadow below the icon
here:
Posted by Alex | February 22, 2010, 1:39 pmExcellent! One of my favourite is the QNapp.
Les analystes politiques manquent tellement d’auto-dΓ©rision que cela rend parfois leurs propos vraiment dΓ©risoires..

Posted by norman | February 22, 2010, 11:10 pmAs an Arab who was and still is extremely fond of Arab classical poetry, I feel compelled to ask the author of the blog, Mr. Elias Muhanna, the question posed by Abi Nawwas to all the classical Arab poets over 1500 years. What harm would it do to you, i.e. the poets, if you just sat down and carried on with your lamentations instead of insisting on doing it while standing? May be, with your expertise in the field, you have a convincing argument in support of one or the other Mr. Muhanna.
I realize my comment is off topic but I feel it is quite relevant with regards to the chosen blog title.
Regards,
Mustapha

If we sit and lament instead of standing, we might fall asleep.
Posted by Qifa Nabki | February 23, 2010, 9:33 ambrilliant idea!
other then a poster could be a nice t-shirt print.
and opens so many possibilities: plastic surgery doctors, coffee with neighbors calendar,..
